Former deputy government spokesperson late Col Shaban Bantariza has been laid to rest today.
Banatariza was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kagorogoro village Rutookye town council Ruhinda North County, Mitooma District at a scientific burial with a limited number of mourners comprising of mostly family members.
Col Bantariza died on Tuesday morning from Mulago National referral hospital.
He lost the battle to COVID 19.
Col Bantariza has been hailed as a great orator who was highly spirited in debate, and a loyal NRM party cadre who fought for the liberation of Uganda.
He has been accorded full military honours with a 24-gun salute, according to Ofwono Opondo, the government spokesperson.
