The Ministry of Health has commissioned a newly constructed Ebola Treatment Unit in Mubende District to create more space for handling patients on admission. The new unit, located at the Works Yard in Mubende Town will accommodate 60 patients.
Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng said that a new unit will operate on Monday to relieve the pressure on the 42-bed capacity unit at the Mubende Regional Referral Hospital which was established at the time an outbreak of Ebola was confirmed in the country.
Aceng said that some patients from the first treatment unit will now be transferred to the new place to reduce on the congestion which had earlier forced the medical workers to shift to the mental department.
