The Police in Rukungiri, have detained a 33 year old man for alleged murder of his biological father whom he has been threatening to kill for a long time.
According to the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the suspect in custody is Atukwatse Lenato alias Ronald who is alleged to have murdered his father Byebiroha Nesiforo 61, both residents of Karuhara cell, Ndago parish in Nyarushanje Sub County, Rukungiri district.
Maate said that on Saturday at around 11Pm at the above address, the suspect assaulted the deceased critically using a blunt object.
The deceased, suspect and one Kitaragabirwe Beatrice a wife of the deceased were staying together in the same house from which the suspect used to force doors open after coming home late, an act that would anger the deceased causing him to warn the suspect who could respond by threatening to kill him.
It’s said that at around midday, Kitaragabirwe, left both the deceased and the suspect home and went to Nyarushanje Catholic church for prayers and the following day at around 1Am she came back home and found Byebiroha dead lying in pool of blood in the compound between the kitchen and their main house with their son Ronald not at home.
