President Museveni, Wesley Mumbere meet.Museveni: Gov’t to Build New Rwenzururu Palace.

President Museveni met and held discussions with His Highness Charles Wesley Mumbere the Omusinga of the Rwenzururu Kingdom. The meeting occurred yesterday in the afternoon.

The meeting was the first between the two leaders since the Palace attack in November 2016. The meeting was a closed-door one, and the two leaders, according to sources talked about Reconciliation, and cooperation on government programs among other things.

In a recent message to the Omusinga, President Museveni called upon him to collaborate with the government to eliminate the rebel outfit ADF from the Rwenzori region. The president also asked the Omusinga to help the government enhance security, and promote social and economic development.

During the meeting, President Museveni was happy to learn that the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu had begun a new chapter which is aligned with the vision of the National Resistance Movement NRM to transform Uganda.

The President informed the Omusinga who moved with some of his cabinet members that the government restored Kingdoms to allow traditional leaders to mobilize and cause socio-economic transformation of the people through among others universal education and ensuring that everybody joins the money economy.

President Museveni assured the Kingdom that the government will in the new financial year embark on the work of constructing the Kingdom palace in Kasese and also improve monthly allowances given to the kingdoms.
