Mbarara District Councilors have passed a resolution that bans non-Vaccinated Councilors against covid19 from attending council meetings.
The resolution that was unanimously voted, the councilors will also miss out on their sitting allowances.
During the sitting at the District headquarters Kamukuzi , Jennifer Tumuhairwe, district Councilor Rwanyamahembe Town Council noted that most councilors are not vaccinated and this puts them at risk.
“Most Councilors in this council have not been vaccinated, and this puts our lives at risk as Councilors including me who is already vaccinated,” she revealed.

The District Speaker Venansi Munanukye said that the councilor without a certificate of proof will not be allowed to attend the November council sitting and will not get his sitting allowance.

However, Moses Kabeireho Birakwate, District Councilor representing Bwizibwera-Rutooma Town council challenged the Chief Whip to present evidence that councilors had not been vaccinated.
In his Submission, Didas Tabaro the Mbarara district boss noted that he won’t allow non-vaccinated people to access his offices especially Councilors.

Meanwhile: The Same Council resolved to give 10 acres of land in Rushozi cell, Rubaya Sub County, Kashari south constituency, Mbarara district to the government for the construction of an industrial park.
Councilors who talked to this online publication stated that many youths in the district will benefit from the industrial park since it will create employment opportunities for them.
