The Police in Mbarara City have shot and killed a man alleged to be the leader of a Criminal gang that has been terrorizing parts of Greater Ankole and Kigezi Regions.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region Police mouth piece told our reporter that the deceased Dick Tushemereirwe, an army deserter has been on Security’s wanted list on charges of murder and aggravated robbery of Mbarara on reference CRB 1229/21 and Rukungiri CRB 1437/21 respectively.
Kasasira narrates that on Tuesday, October 26th 2021 at around 6Pm, Security personnel from CPS Mbarara and Rwizi Regional Headquarters who have been tracking Tushemereirwe got information that he was sited in Rugarama cell, Biharwe Division in Mbarara City North.
Tushemereirwe, the deceased now together with three others that include Twinomugisha Dominic, Kasim Ayebazibwe both in Police custody and one known by only Tonny who is still at large were behind the murder of OC Ruharo Police Post NO.44109 CPL Agaba Richard on September 8th 2021 robbing his SMG rifle no.UG POL 56582399632575.
The gun was later recovered from Rukungiri Municipality on October 29th 2021 with 10 rounds of ammunition during a robbery of For God Electronic shop.
The PRO says that according to an intelligence led operation, Tushemereirwe was tracked down in Rugarama cell bushes where he was hiding and on pursuit, he tried to resist arrest by trying to disarm a security personnel which forced officers to put him out of action before he could cause any more harm.
He said the deceased’s body was conveyed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
