Mbarara City Security Committee has resolved to gazette all Boda Boda Stages and register the riders as one of the measures to fight increasing crime. This follows a public outcry on the increasing cases of murder and motorcycle thefts.
At least 121 cases of motorcycle thefts have been reported at different Police stations around Mbarara city in the last six months. Several riders were killed during the theft of their motorcycles.
Moses Aruho, the Deputy Mbarara City Resident Commissioner, says that the committee on which the city clerk and Mayor sit resolved that they come up with gazetted Boda boda stages to boost their fights against increased criminality.

He says that they agreed as a committee to give the Mbarara City council a month’s ultimatum to come up with a list of the proposed stages. CUE. STAGES ENG.
Majid Ruganda, the acting Chairperson of Mbarara City Boda Boda Riders Association says the stages the authorities seek to gazette were registered, saying it would be hard for the authorities to close them now.
